Katabatik is a record label, soundsystem and music collective operating across the West Coast of the United States. Devoted to cold, dark, and esoteric electronic sounds since 2001.
Founded in Anchorage, Alaska by members of Nommo Ogo, Katabatik began as a soundsystem and record label before moving south through the Pacific Northwest and establishing a long-running presence in the Bay Area. Throughout the 2000s and early 2010s, Katabatik organized underground events and clandestine outdoor gatherings around the Summer and Winter solstices, alongside releasing a steadily expanding catalog of tapes, CDRs, and the Kollektion compilation series.
After the Ghost Ship fire in 2016 and the loss of several core members, Katabatik shifted its focus toward digital releases as the collective dispersed across the West Coast. Since relocating northward, Katabatik has continued through releases, sporadic events, and the Konclave outdoor campout series in rural Washington state.
